Since Adobe debuted the PDF file format in the early 1990s, it has become the defacto standard for electronic documents in many markets. While engineers, publishers, and printers push the format to its technical limits with rich media and 3-D content, the general office worker comprises the PDF-using majority.

The personal cloud is the most persistent data loss threat to the enterprise today because many employees use their own cloud services to store work documents. Traditionally, content security solutions functionally link security and storage which requires the migration of work documents to a new content storage repository in order to enforce security policies. This increases complexity by creating more repositories for the enterprise to manage. Most importantly, this approach does not solve the personal cloud problem because individual users continue to store their work documents, for convenience, in cloud services that IT cannot secure.

Within any organization, business content – applications, forms, reports, office documents, audio, video, and social media – is poorly managed and often out-of-reach of critical business processes. And, when business content is invisible, unclassified or unmanaged, it creates chaos. Content chaos causes a breakdown in the flow of information between an organization and its customers, its partners and even within itself – failures that often impact customer engagement, business agility, and the capacity to collaborate securely and effectively. It's time you learn how to put your business content to work.

Did you know that sales reps typically waste up to 16 hours per week on non-selling tasks? If your sales team is spending too much time on non-selling tasks, logging sales activities to Salesforce, hunting for customer information and documents, or copy-pasting data between separate systems, they might resist the rise of mobile CRM solutions like Salesforce1. However, it’s important to figure out how to enable these teams in the field, as 55% of salespeople will access sales applications exclusively through smartphones or tablets by the end of 2016. It’s not surprising that salespeople will increase their use of mobile apps 125% from 2015-2017. In this whitepaper from Tact, you’ll learn 1) common challenges facing field sales teams, 2) a framework for thinking about mobile sales productivity, 3) essential characteristics for evaluating mobile sales solutions, and 4) key trends in mobile sales.

One of the most common workplace documents is an employee handbook, which can lay the foundation for a positive organizational culture, with clearly communicated expectations for company policies and procedures. Despite the fact that employee handbooks are so widespread, there is some measure of risk in releasing an employee handbook and having you commit yourself to workplace policies in writing. When executed properly, the benefits of having an employee handbook far outweigh the risks.

Is email still the “killer app” it used to be? Social technologies and mobile capabilities are changing the way people communicate in the workplace. Many organizations are employing BYOD strategies and embracing social business tools like file sharing, chat, wikis and communities. In the past, email was used for storing and sharing documents and having conversations with groups. Tasks which are much better suited for today's social cloud collaboration tools.
