Growth in mobile broadband technology is expanding the possibilities for a diverse array of applications in mobile pop-up. Furthermore, the “fly-by-night” qualities that might have characterized early pop-ups have now been supplanted by dependable, secure infrastructure solutions that put temporary retail locations on par with their more permanent counterparts. The restaurant and bar industry is highly competitive, and many owners of these establishments struggle every day just to stay in business. In fact, approximately 40 restaurants and bars go out of business each day in the U.S. According to celebrity chef, restaurateur, and entrepreneur Robert Irvine, “Part of the problem is that they don’t have the systems and processes in place to track the key aspects of their business – not only their costs and their revenue, but what items sell the best (and by how much), what items are most profitable, who are the most productive employees, and so on.”

Peters' and Waterman's well-known book 'In Search of Excellence', a study of some of the most well-managed companies in the United States at that time, was one of the best-known business books of the 1980s. In the book, the authors identified eight common themes which they argued were responsible for the success of the included corporations. These attributes included hands-on management, centralized values accompanied by entrepreneurial productivity, and focusing on the core business (sticking to the knitting).
Established in 1919, Junior Achievement USA is the world’s largest organization dedicated to educating K–12 students about workforce readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy through experiential, hands-on programs. The nonprofit organization reaches more than 4.6 million students per year in 201,444 classrooms and after-school locations. Nearly 220,000 volunteers, including businesspeople, parents, college students and retirees, support JA programs.
The employment landscape was relatively static for years. Sure, there were changes, but employers and employees could count on the traditional hire-toretire career path. And while that path hasn’t always taken place at one company, the idea was still the same: get a job, improve your skills, move into a higher position, repeat until you retire. Employers thought employees valued vertical moves, and ever-vertical salaries that moved one way—up. Employees either didn’t know any better, didn’t think about it, or didn’t think there were options. The few employees who were dissatisfied with the status quo braved the entrepreneur path, with uncertain success but potentially brighter futures.
